What Not to Do
For 1-2 days, do not…
- spit,
- use a straw,
- eat hot food,
- tilt your head forward, and
- eat food that has “particles.”
For 1 week, do not…
- blow your nose,
- eat “sharp” foods,
- forget to swish nasty mouth sanitizer,
- allow your tongue to feel around your stitches, and
- forget to swish salt water around your mouth after eating.
For 1 year, do not…
- eat difficult to chew foods without first cutting them up,
- use your teeth as a tool,
- forget to brush and floss (in fact, this is important forever), and
- worry about your front teeth falling out (because, you see, they’re already gone, and replaced with something shinier (though temporary))!
Oh, did you already have them pulled!?! I hope you’re doing OK!!
Oy! Sounds like you went through the wringer! I hope you’re feeling better!
Yeah, I’d call this a big owie. By which I mean it’s the most painful thing I can recall. That’s to say, I don’t remember the quantity of pain involved in their first… extraction (though accidental and caused by pavement rather than a dentist), nor the pain of the root canals and gum surgery that followed. Really, these fucking teeth have been no end of trouble and I’m glad their gone. And now that the swelling is going down, I think there might be an end in sight for this current set of pain.
ooooh, feel better!
Glad to hear there’s a light at the end of the tunnel! I was most relieved when I finally got my front tooth crown put on. I broke the silly thing in high school by ramming my bike into our PE instructor’s car in the dead of night. I still call that encounter a “win” on my part ’cause even after all the BS with the root canal, the steel post and whatnot I did more $$ damage to his car than happened to my face and bike.
How’d you end up in your current predicament?
My bike was fine. My aunts car was fine. I was trying to avoid hitting her car. I successfully only hit my face into the ground and knocked out 4 teeth (two baby teeth – I was only 8 after all). I’ve been through a lot with the adult teeth they jammed back up in there (root canals, gum surgery, the works), but now they’re gone forever. Good bye stupid old teeth!
